Board of Governors.
Organized on February 4, 1897 with 38 members, The Jacksonville
Bar Association published its objectives in its original constitution,
to maintain the honor and dignity of the profession; to regulate
the practice and promote improvements in the law and methods of
its administration; to cultivate professional ethics among its members;
and to discuss legal topics of general interest.
The Jacksonville Bar Association has more than 1,900 members.
While members enjoy continuing legal education seminars and
lawyer referral services, the basic mission of The Jacksonville
Bar Association remains to enhance the administration of law as well as
the professional and social lives of its members.
Now in its second century, The Jacksonville Bar Association continues
its commitment to professionalism and service to the community.
The Vision of The Jacksonville Bar Association:
The Jacksonville Bar Association serves as the forum for our
profession - willing to take action and try innovative ways to better
serve our membership and the public in facing law-related community
issues. Association membership will be all inclusive, inspiring
members to participate regularly in Bar activities. Activities will
be designed to promote the highest professionalism, unselfish service
to the community, positive relations between the bench and the bar,
and camaraderie among the members - ultimately,
so that we all live up to the highest ideals of the profession at
work and in the community.
