YLS Happy Hour & BOG Nominations

This Happy Hour is for all YLS members and specifically for anyone interested in running for election to the YLS Board of Governors.
All those that are a member of The Jacksonville Bar Association and are either (i) 35 years or younger as of July 1, 2016 or (ii) have been admitted to practice law for less than 5 years are eligible to run for a seat. There are a total of five seats up for election, with only two incumbents running for re-election. The seats up for election are as follows:
- Seat 1: Open Seat for one year term
- Seat 2: Two year term with Incumbent John Wallace
- Seat 4: Two year term with Incumbent Alessandro Apolito
- Seat 5: Open Seat for one year term
- Seat 6: Open seat for two year term
All those wishing to run for a seat must e-mail Christian George at email@example.com no later than the close of business on Monday, May 23, 2016 indicating they would like to run for election and designating the seat in which they are running. You must also submit a profile and recent color photo.

Member Luncheon – April 22nd
“Mayor Lenny Curry, Judges, and the Duval Delegation in One Room: A Lively Fireside Chat Regarding the Needs of Our Community”
The Jacksonville Bar Association and the Governmental Relations Committee are pleased to announce that the JBA is recognizing members of the Florida Legislative Duval Delegation at the upcoming lunch meeting. This is a RARE opportunity to witness all three branches of government in one room: the Judges, members of the Duval Delegation, and Mayor Curry, who is the featured speaker. The Duval Delegation includes the Senate and House representatives that comprise our Florida Legislature, specifically Senate Districts 4 and 9, and House Districts 11 through 16.
JBA members will have the opportunity to meet and speak with the legislators beginning at 11:30 AM – 12:00 p.m. in the main dining hall at the Hyatt.
The luncheon meeting will take place Friday, April 22, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Hotel, 225 East Coastline Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32202.

2016 JBA Board of Governors Nominations Petitions
accepted March 28, 2016 through 5 p.m., April 4, 2016
A President-Elect and five members of the Board of Governors are to be elected by the date of the Annual Meeting of the Association to be held on Monday, May 2, 2016.
Members wishing to run for a seat on the Board of Governors must submit a nomination petition signed by 10 active members of the JBA, along with a recent color photo and profile form electronically to email@example.com no later than 5:00 P.M., Monday, April 4, 2016.
No nominations will be accepted after that date and time.

Professionalism Nomination Petitions Sought
The Bench and Bar Professionalism Committee will be accepting nominations through April 15, 2016. The recipient of the award will be announced at the Jacksonville Bar Association Law Day Luncheon.
