The Florida Bar has mandated new minimum standards prescribed for attorneys handling felony cases under Rule 3.133. This seminar will satisfy the new Minimum Standards for Attorneys in Felony Cases under Rule 3.113 which is effective in May 16, 2016, and provides as follows:

“Before an attorney may participate as counsel of record in the circuit court for any adult felony case, including postconviction proceedings before the trial court, the attorney must complete a course, approved by The Florida Bar for continuing legal education credits, of at least 100 minutes and covering the legal and ethical obligations of discovery in a criminal case, including the requirements of rule 3.220, and the principles established in Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83 (1963) and Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 150 (1972).”

Speakers Denis deVlaming and The Honorable Angela Corey (prosecution and defense) will present an intensive point/counterpoint presentation which will satisfy the new Fla.R.Crim.Proc., Rule 3.113, minimum standards in felony cases requirements pertaining to Fla.R.Crim.Proc. 3.220 Discovery and Brady-Giglio obligations.

New Mandated Standards for Criminal Felony Law Practitioners!

Walk and Talk – Beginning Tuesday, January 12

The Health and Wellness committee hosted their first “Walk and Talk” event January 12th.  We are planning to do this every other Tuesday.  Lawyers,support staff, and friends are all welcome.  Meet outside at the Wells Fargo building, Water Street entrance, to walk the bridges and Riverwalk with colleagues, to talk, network, and socialize while getting exercise.

The next walk is planned for January 26th.

JSO has graciously agreed to assist us in delivering gifts to the seniors. You may bring your gifts to the JBA Office at One Independent Drive, Suite 2201, Jacksonville, Florida, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., December 9-15, 2015. Perishable items or Fruit Baskets will not be accepted at the JBA office.

Please be sure that packages are wrapped and that the label is securely attached to the package. Do not use staples.
