About the JBA
Founded in 1897, The Jacksonville Bar Association enters its
119th year enjoying the participation of a strong legal community in Northeast Florida. With a membership
over 2,000, The Jacksonville Bar Association is entitled to a seat in the American Bar Association House of Delegates, a body that considers and recommends legal policies for lawyers on a national level. The JBA Lawyer Referral Service is accredited by the American Bar Association, assuring a way for the public to obtain an experienced lawyer in the field of law needed for their situation with the quality of best practices.
The Jacksonville Bar Association offers opportunities for attorneys to engage in activities to benefit the community and improve the practice of law. The Sections are Community Outreach, Family & Children, Litigation, Member Services, Practicing with Professionalism, and Transactional Law. Each offers several committee options that focus on fields of practice or service opportunities.
The Jacksonville Bar Association events benefit many charitable groups in our area, including the J.T. Townsend Foundation, K-9’s for Warriors, Community Connections, and Dreams Come True. Our Young Lawyers Section’s community service project benefiting Ribault High School was developed in partnership with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund and the D.W. Perkins Bar Association, and has been recognized throughout the state as a model mentoring program. The Young Lawyers Section also facilitates The Jacksonville Bar Association’s sports leagues. The Jacksonville Bar Association helps members expand their networking opportunities by hosting social events with organizations such as the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, the Beaches Bar Association, Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, and the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS).
The Jacksonville Bar Association provides its members with a variety of resources designed to assist in developing his or her practice, including regular continuing legal education courses, complimentary Member Luncheons with compelling speakers, and Judicial Receptions that encourage networking. In the past year, benefits to members have increased substantially, including more discounts and vendor programs. The Jacksonville Bar Association continues to aggressively identify new benefits to support its members.
Our members are very important to us, and we encourage you to use the many value-added benefits we have planned for the upcoming year. Our association would not exist without the continuous help and support of our members. We value your participation and thank you for belonging to The Jacksonville Bar Association.
